Business Brown Bag events began in 2011 as a joint effort from the ASU-SBDC (Small Business Development Center), Chamber of Commerce, and CVCED (Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development) to help provide networking and professional development opportunities to business owners and entrepreneurs in the Concho Valley. Each month a new speaker is featured who shares helpful and educational information business owners and entrepreneurs can use.
SPEAKER: Pamela Venable, Owner, Strategic Business Solutions
BIO: Pamela Venable is the proprietor of a business consulting firm, Strategic Business Solutions, based in San Angelo, TX where she offers consultation services in the areas of business planning, leadership & management, human resources, strategic planning and bookkeeping. She is a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University counselor, a Certified John C. Maxwell Coach and Trainer, as well as a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She was most recently employed by a public accounting firm where she managed the firm’s human resource development, marketing, operations and strategic planning, as well as overseeing the firm finances. Pamela was on the faculty at Angelo State University (ASU) as a professionally qualified instructor. She facilitated the Communications in Business and Industry class where she was honored by the Who’s Who among America’s Teachers organization for excellence in the classroom in 2005. Formerly, she taught the Entrepreneurship and Business Internship classes and is a certified REAL (Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning) instructor of entrepreneurship. She was the Executive Director of the ASU-SBDC where she was directly responsible for the launch of the Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development, a regional small business incubator. Prior business experiences include ownership of a successful lawn maintenance business where she was awarded the SBA’s Young Entrepreneur of 1996. She received a BBA majoring in finance from ASU in 1989 and an MBA with a management concentration from ASU in 1995. She has completed sixteen hours toward a doctorate degree, which she hopes to complete in the coming years.Pamela has been active in many community organizations, including numerous leadership positions. She serves as a judge for the annual Texas Family Business of the Year event, is active in the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of the Concho Valley, serves on the Concho Valley Council of Governments Economic Development Loan Review Board, was a board member for the Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development, and is a 1997 graduate of Leadership San Angelo. She also serves on the Concho Valley Workforce Development Board, serving on the Executive Committee, and serving as Vice Chair for the board for many years. She has a wonderful husband, Nolan, and together they have four border collies and often volunteers for Border Collie Rescue of Texas to help abandoned dogs of the breed find loving homes. She is also an avid tennis player and you’ll find her on the courts whenever time allows.
