Art Exhibit: “Childhood Play/Adult Realities” by John Hartley

Fort Worth-based artist, John Hartley, presents an exhibit, titled “Childhood Play/Adult Realities” that features works that reflect his interests, including the human figure, toy collecting and social issues.

Hartley will also present a gallery talk at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in Room 101 of the EFA Building.  Both the exhibit and the lecture are open free to the public.

A seasoned artist, Hartley earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Texas Christian University. His work has been exhibited and critically received throughout Texas and the United States, including exhibitions at the Kidder Smith Galleries in Boston and Martha’s Vineyard, the Arlington Museum of Art, The Barth Galleries in Columbus, Ohio, and galleries in Fort Worth, Dallas and Houston. In 1990, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth purchased two of his monoprints for its exhibition, “Forty Texas Printmakers.”

Hartley is director of Gallery 414 in Fort Worth and is an associate professor of art at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus in Fort Worth.
