10:30am CST February 27, 2013
Houston Harte University Center
While most people struggle to make sense of health care regulations and policies, Liliana Salazar’s attention to detail helps her not only understand the technical jargon, but also be a leader in her profession.
As an employee benefits compliance professional, Salazar possesses extensive experience addressing employers’ responsibilities under federal, state and local laws. She interacts with regulatory agencies, such as the Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Department of Health and Human Services and state insurance departments, to address the applicability of laws and regulations to group health plans.
Salazar and her staff are actively involved in identifying and implementing cost-effective employer solutions that comply with new health care reform mandates, including defined contribution plans and consumer-driven health care plans.
In establishing the Distinguished Lectureship in Business in 1995, Wells Fargo Bank became a catalyst for a growing relationship between the San Angelo business community and Angelo State University. Through joint efforts such as these, Wells Fargo, San Angelo and the Concho Valley are addressing the problems of today to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Wells Fargo Bank of San Angelo has committed to provide annual funding to the ASU College of Business for underwriting the lectureship, with the intent of continuing the program in perpetuity.
The lectureship is designed to provide Angelo State University students and the community with exposure to well-known business leaders. Many of these leaders are ASU graduates who are able to offer practical ideas and solutions to the management problems of today, as well as expose the students to what will be expected of them if they wish to become successful in their future careers. The formal lectures cover business topics that are both timely and appropriate.
The College of Business is proud to be associated in this enterprise with Wells Fargo Bank of San Angelo and to help promote greater cooperation between ASU and the San Angelo business community.
