As health care reform unfolds it is important to understand how it will affect your business. The implications for your business will basically depend on the number of people you employ. For a good overview of what the Affordable Care Act is and how it might affect your business join us May 21st at the next Business Brown Bag.

SPEAKERS:

Bryan Horner
Shannon Medical Center
President/CEO
Mr. Horner has been employed at Shannon since November 1998 in the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer before assuming CEO duties in 2006.

From November 1989 to 1998, he was employed by Columbia/HCA and served in positions of CFO, Division CFO, and CFO/COO roles at various facilities. From September 1984 to November 1989, he was employed by Republic Health Corporation as Facility CFO and for two years, as the Corporate Accounting Manager.

He is a CPA and holds a degree in Business Administration in Accounting from Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas, and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University.

 

Mary Cortez
Shannon Medical Center
Director, Managed Care
Ms. Cortez is currently Director, Managed Care for Shannon Medical Center (since 2009). She works with provider contracts as well with the employee health plan, managing the health and dental benefits for 4600 lives.

Prior to her transition to Shannon Medical Center, Ms. Cortez held the position of Director, Operations for the Shannon-owned Legacy Health Plan.

She earned her degree is from Angelo State University in Business Administration.
