Featured Programs

First-Year Quest: Saturday, Aug. 22 

Join UREC Outdoor Adventures and Orientation Programs as we take first-year students on an adventure worth remembering. Come wearing closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing—everything else will be left as a surprise. All participants will receive small gifts to remind them of their experience. 


Angelo Serves: Sunday, Aug. 23 

Angelo Serves is a community-wide service event. We encourage incoming and returning students to get the semester off to a great start by giving back to our very own community. By participating in Angelo Serves, you will gain new friendships, connections within the surrounding community, and a new-found admiration of serving others.

      University Business: “Alcohol EDU” & “Haven” Completion

      This time is set aside for first-year students to complete any university business including but not limited to: making payments, taking your student ID photo, picking up your parking permit at Parking Services, and visiting the ASU Bookstore for textbooks and other supplies. Additionally, if you did not complete the Alcohol EDU or Haven training, please do so at this time in Room 111A or 111B of the Math and Computer Science Building.

      Ram Family Connection Blue & Gold Room

      The Ram Family Connection, ASU’s parent/family group, is providing light refreshments at a relaxing getaway from all the moving hustle. Come pick up your San Angelo community information packet to get to know our city.

      Questions? Come visit the Services Expo to talk to various campus services, including but not limited to, University Police, Financial Aid, Housing and Residential Programs and Information Technology.

      Farewell Dinner

      Students and families are invited to the Farewell Dinner to say their fond farewells. While families begin to say goodnight and goodbye to their students, students are encouraged to attend the Ice Cream Social, Residence Hall Meetings and late night programming throughout the night.

      Housing & Residential Programs is kicking off the year in a delicious way! A full ice cream bar will be available and provided by special guest scoopers. This relaxed event is a great way to meet other students and kick-start RAMbunctious Weekend. Ice cream socials are located in the lobby of each Residence Hall.

      Residence Hall Floor Meetings
      Immediately following the ice cream social, students are asked to meet in the lobby of their residence hall to meet their floor mates, their Resident Assistant and learn more about on-campus living.

      The Food Service Center is available for breakfast. Students will need to bring their ONE Card as meal plans will be used.

      Freshmen Welcome

      The Class of 2019 will gather together for their official welcome to the university. This program is hosted by Student Affairs and will officially begin Rambunctious Weekend and serve as the start of a weekend of learning Angelo State traditions and what is means to be a Ram.

      The Class of 2019 is invited to this annual lunch where you’ll have a chance to meet ASU faculty and staff.

      Join us for a Texas-style barbecue hosted by Chartwells Dining Services. Relax and unwind after a long day, and enjoy the evening’s activities.

      The award-winning University Center Program Council (UCPC) will provide events and activities including: a caricature artist, custom flipbooks, a “Go Gamez” video game trailer and a zip line.

      Ram Tram

      Ram Tram is our FREE weekend city bus transportation dedicated to ASU students. Faculty and staff may also ride. Show your ASU OneCard to board. Ram Tram will stop on campus at Centennial Village and Plaza Verde, then begin a route through southwest San Angelo, Sherwood Way, the downtown area and back to ASU. Buses run every hour on the half hour.

      RAMazing Showdown

      This is an ASU-style jeopardy game where you and your fellow Rams will go head-to-head  answering questions related to ASU and pop culture. Get five friends to join you and battle against the other teams in hopes of winning. Prizes will be awarded to the top three placing teams. Registration is from 8-8:45 p.m. The showdown will start at 9 p.m. Students, remember to bring your ASU OneCard with you!

      Join UREC during this annual Rambunctious Weekend tournament where students can experience this popular intramural activity and prepare their team for a campus championship!

      Ram Rally

      The only place to be on a Saturday night is watching ASU football! 
      Come out to the LeGrand Sports Complex and learn the ASU Fight Song and Alma Mater as well as our treasured traditions. As the ASU football team showcases why the Rams won last year’s inaugural Lone Star Conference Playoff Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs you’ll learn ASU football cheers and chants! The official Class of 2019 photo will also be taken at this time.

      Spend the afternoon with Student Life meeting new people and working with local groups that make San Angelo a great place to live! Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing.
      Lunch and Registration: 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
      Service Project: 12:30–3 p.m.

      Welcome Back Picnic

      The Welcome Back Picnic is held to welcome all Angelo State students back to campus. Activities with UCPC include water inflatables and a “Go Gamez” video game trailer. Kayaking is also available with UREC Outdoor Adventures. A hamburger and hotdog cookout is hosted by the Multicultural Center and the Student Life Office.
