Civil War Lecture Series: “With High Hope for the Future” - Western Expansion and Conservation in a New Nation

Drs. Kenna Archer (“‘We Have Devastated the Land’: Environmental Thought, Ruination, and the American Civil War”) and Jason Pierce (“Lincoln Looks West”) will discuss the physical devastation of the American Civil War and the Lincoln Administration’s policy towards Native Americans.

The History Department’s Civil War Commemoration Lecture series enters its third year with new discussions of baseball, medicine, Native Americans in the war, and slavery.
