The First Generation RAMS Mentor program helps incoming First Generation freshmen adjust academically and socially to life at Angelo State University. As a mentor, it will be your job to build a positive relationship with your mentee, to encourage him or her to thrive as an ASU Ram, and to provide support as needed.
Does this mean that you need to have it all together and have all the right answers to be a good mentor? No, it doesn’t. In order to be a mentor, you need to have at least one year of experience on campus, which probably includes making some mistakes and learning from those mistakes. It also means that you need to have the maturity it takes to communicate the lessons you have learned from your experience into something others can learn from– without having to make those same mistakes.
There are three requirements that you must meet in order to be considered for a position as a mentor.
As you complete this application, please be as specific and honest as the space allows—the authenticity of your responses will greatly aid us in the selection and matching process.
