Genealogical Workshop Set March 3 at ASU

The workshop is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Trinity Lutheran Fellowship Hall at 3536 YMCA Drive in San Angelo. Advance registration costs $55 for the workshop and buffet lunch or $50 for the workshop only, provided registration is received by Feb. 27. Registration after that date or at the door will be $60.
Presentations by Fogarty will cover “Salute to Veterans, Researching Ancestors’ Military Service” on learning how to identify potential servicemen in each of our nation’s conflicts and where to look for possible proof of that service; “Courthouse Research, Finding the Mother Lode” on the genealogical gems that cannot be found anywhere else except the county courthouse; and “Unlocking Treasures of the National Archives” on removing the mystery from researching in archives. All registrants will receive a notebook plus all printed material provided by the speaker. Doors will open at 8 a.m. for coffee prior to the 8:30 a.m. program start.

Fogarty is president of the Genealogical Speakers Guild and a noted speaker on a wide range of topics. The Oklahoma City resident is a professional genealogist and a former history teacher with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in her field. She is a member of the board of directors of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society and the Oklahoma Historical Society.
Additionally, she is a delegate to the Federation of Genealogical Societies and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Institute on Genealogical Research Alumni Association, International Society of Family History Writers and Editors, and the National Genealogical Society. She also belongs to numerous lineage societies.
