ROTC Staffer’s Marathon Fundraising Effort

Air Force Staff Sgt. Sarah Gauthier, personnel NCO for Angelo State University’s ROTC Detachment 847, will participate in the 20th annual U.S. Air Force Marathon on Friday, Sept. 17, as a fundraising effort on behalf of the Air Force Enlisted Village.

Staff Sgt. Sarah Gauthier Staff Sgt. Sarah Gauthier The Air Force Marathon takes place each year at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. More than 15,000 runners are expected this year to compete in four distance events: full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K races. Gauthier will compete in the half marathon while her husband, Staff Sgt. Chris Gauthier, runs the full marathon.  

Sarah Gauthier is running to raise money for the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV), a nonprofit organization that provides housing for surviving spouses of retired Air Force enlisted personnel and those who died while on active duty. AFEV is located in Shalimar, Fla., near Eglin Air Force Base and consists of both independent and assisted-living apartment communities. More details are available at http://afev.us.

Gauthier joined the ASU Department of Aerospace Studies/ROTC in October 2015 for her second Air Force assignment. Her first assignment was as a personnel NCO and administrative assistant to the command chief at Eglin AFB. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from Oregon State University and an associate degree from Community College of the Air Force.
