Ricky and Juan started a vehicle window tinting business two years ago. The business was very steady but Ricky wanted to bring in something different. He wanted to tap into the bed liner business.

Ricky wasn’t sure where to start the process so he met with Advisor Paul Howard of the Angelo State University • Small Business Development Center. Ricky and his father Richard discussed the expansion of their business with Paul. Richard did some research and found the equipment needed to apply the bed lining. It is very similar to an airless paint sprayer. Ricky had done this type of work for local companies but needed training.

By purchasing the equipment from the company, they sent someone to train Ricky on it. Ricky now has the training and the equipment needed to apply bed liners and the result was an expansion for American Window Tinting. Ricky says, “The SBDC helped us get ideas on advertising and where to invest in and not to invest in; basically get more bang for your buck.”

San Angelo and the Concho Valley have a business that is looking to be successful by offering more than one service and the business retained two jobs.
