Online Master’s Programs Ranked Top 5 in U.S.

Angelo State University has been ranked among the top five universities in the U.S. in three separate categories for its online master’s degree offerings by AffordableColleges.com, an education resource guide for prospective online students in a variety of academic disciplines.

As an institution, ASU was ranked No. 4 on the list of “Most Affordable Online Master’s Degrees.” For individual programs, ASU ranked No. 5 on the lists of “Best Value Online Master’s in Criminal Justice Programs” and “Best Value Online Master’s in Psychology Programs.” 

C riteria for the rankings include tuition rates, academic pedigree, types of available programs, retention and graduation rates, student loan default rates, student-to-faculty ratio, and other financial aid data gathered through the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. Institutions and programs were rated on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest possible score. 

Overall, ASU received a score of 8.53, its online master’s degree in criminal justice program scored an 8.0, and the online master’s degree in applied psychology program scored an 8.46. All of the rankings lists are available at www.affordablecolleges.com/rankings/.  

ASU offers 13 online master’s degree programs in applied psychology, business administration, criminal justice, several curriculum and instruction/education fields, nursing and several intelligence and security studies fields. 

The online Master of Science in criminal justice degree program consists of 36 credit hours and is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree, regardless of the academic discipline. 

The online Master of Science in applied psychology degree program is offered completely online, but students also have the option of taking some elective courses on campus and working with faculty on research projects.
