ASU Ring Ceremony to Honor 87 Recipients

April 12, 2012

The Angelo State University Alumni Association will host 87 ASU ring recipients during its annual spring Ring Ceremony on Thursday, April 19, as a precursor to ASU’s May 12 commencement ceremonies.

The 7 p.m. Ring Ceremony will be held in the Vincent Pavilion at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave.  Special guest speaker will be Kyle Box, Class of 1981 and former ASU Alumni Association president.  ASU President Joseph C. Rallo will also address the ring recipients about the significance of the ASU ring.  ASU senior Jimena Lule will sing the national anthem and ASU alma mater, and ROTC Det. 847 will provide a color guard for the ceremony.  Light refreshments will be served.

The ASU Block and Bridal Club will present Dominic VII, the university’s Rambouillet ram mascot.  After the ceremony, ring recipients can touch their rings to Dominic’s horns for strength, or rub them through his wool for luck.  Students wear the ASU ring with the school name facing them.  When they receive their degrees, they will turn their rings around to symbolize that they are ready to face the world.

For more information or to make reservations for the Ring Ceremony, call the ASU Alumni Association at 325-942-2122.
