ASU Small Business Center to Host ‘Lean’ Seminar

Angelo State University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in conjunction with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC), will conduct a business improvement seminar on Thursday, April 14, at the West Texas Training Center, 3501 N. U.S. Hwy 67.

The seminar, titled “Principles of Lean,” will run from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. April 14 and lunch will be provided. The program is designed for business leaders, managers, supervisors and directors interested in implementing “leaner,” more efficient business practices in their operational, administrative and/or strategic functions.

Through a combination of lectures and hands-on simulations, the seminar will teach lessons in standardized work, workplace organization, visual controls, workforce practices and other functions designed to eliminate waste and help businesses be more responsive to market trends and provide faster and less expensive delivery of products and services.

Cost of the seminar is $25 per person payable at the door, but seating is limited and advance registration is required. Interested parties can register online at www.sbdc.angelo.edu or by calling the SBDC at (325) 942-2098 or (325) 942-2019.

TMAC is an affiliate of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. It delivers training and hands-on technical assistance to a wide range of businesses, including manufacturing, government and health care. Its focus areas include lean enterprise, technology solutions, strategic management, quality systems environment and safety.
