ASU to Host Camp UREC for Children

April 11, 2011

The University Recreation Department (UREC) at Angelo State University will host three Camp UREC summer sessions for kids aged 4-12 beginning June 20 on the ASU campus.

Each Camp UREC session will run for two weeks, primarily in the ASU Center for Human Performance, 2050 S. Johnson St. The daily schedule for each session will go from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Session I will run from June 20-July 1, Session II will run from July 11-22, and Session III will run from Aug. 1-12. The registration fee for each session is $200 per camper, with a $15 discount for each additional camper from the same family.

The sessions are designed to develop the campers’ motor skills that will be the foundation for success in sports performance as they mature. All campers will engage in developmental exercise and skills activities. Campers ages 9-12 will also receive instruction in softball, volleyball, badminton, flag football, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, swimming and cooperative games.

Campers will need to bring an appropriate swimsuit, flip-flops, tennis shoes and a towel each day along with a sack lunch and a drink, preferably water. Campers will not be permitted to use campus vending machines during camp hours.

Additionally, staff members will be available to supervise children during pre-camp and post-camp activities from 7:30-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. each day for a flat rate of $50 per session for pre-camp and $75 for post-camp. Additional fees will be charged if children are picked up after 5:30 p.m.

To register for Camp UREC, go to Room 112 of the CHP between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, complete a registration application and pay for the session. Campers will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.
