ASU Honor Society Conducts Program at New County Library

April 18, 2011

Angelo State University’s Mu Gamma chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society recently conducted a “Reading is Out of This World” program in Tom Green County’s newly opened Stephens Central Library in downtown San Angelo.

The future educators read stories to first and second graders who gathered at stations around the library. Nineteen ASU students and 70 school children took part, and the children each received a free book to take home.

The event was part of Kappa Delta Pi’s “Literacy Alive” program. Dr. Marilyn Eisenwine and Dr. Christine Purkiss from the ASU Department of Teacher Education serve as sponsors of the Mu Gamma chapter.

For more information on Kappa Delta Pi or the reading program, call Eisenwine at (325) 942-2052, ext. 258.
