ASU to Host Weekend Band Camp
June 29, 2012
The two-day residential music camp for high school students ages 14-18 will include specialized instruction from established educators for drum lines, color guards and drum majors. In addition, the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps from Edinburg, in south Texas, will conduct hands-on workshops, and specialists in percussion and color guard will teach clinics. The camp will conclude with a rehearsal clinic and performance by Genesis.
Camp participants will stay in ASU residential facilities, and meals will be provided. Cost for the camp, including housing and meals, is $150.
Genesis was founded in 2009 in Edinburg to provide the youth of the Rio Grande Valley the opportunity to enhance their musical skills for participation at a higher level. In its second year, Genesis finished ninth at the Drum Corps International World Championships, and followed that with a sixth-place finish in 2011 along with being voted the “Most Improved Drum Corps.”
