ASU Education Prof Named to Statewide Post

Dr. Richard Evans, an associate professor of teacher education at Angelo State University, was elected secretary of the Texas Council for Exceptional Children (TCEC) at the organization’s recent conference in San Antonio.

In addition to his duties as TCEC secretary, Evans chairs the group’s Technology Committee and is a member of its Diversity Committee. He has also served as co-chair of the TCEC’s Educators with Disabilities Caucus the past two years.

Evans is also a member of the board for the Council for Learning Disabilities, based in Overland Park, Kan. At ASU, he serves as advisor to the Student Council for Exceptional Children and the Special Education Ambassadors.

The TCEC is the Texas affiliate of the International Council for Exceptional Children, the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, including students with disabilities, and those identified as gifted. The organization’s mission is to advocate for and support professionals who educate students with exceptionalities.
