The two-week seminar will be held on site at the Democratic National Convention, and will examine the role of the national political conventions in the presidential nomination process. It will also place students in fieldwork assignments with the party, convention committee, media and other related entities that combine to make an effective political convention. Only about 100 students nationwide are chosen to attend the seminar.
“As a political science major and an aspiring lawyer and politician, this experience will be a valuable learning opportunity for Preston,” said Dr. Shirley Eoff, Honors Program director.
Wimberly’s trip is being funded by the Alvin and Patricia New Honors Program Enhancement Fund, which was created in 2008 through a $250,000 donation to the ASU Honors Program by San Angelo Mayor Alvin New and his wife, Patricia, who are both ASU alumni.
