ASU Family Day Set for Sept. 22
September 18, 2012
Family Day offers students’ families a look into ASU’s programs, facilities and student accomplishments, along with a daylong schedule of events.
Activities will include a cake auction and free refreshments in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, trolley tours to downtown San Angelo and a chemistry “magic show” in the Cavness Science Building. Visitors can also test their math skills during the “Are You Smarter Than a Freshman in Mathematics?” program in the Mathematics-Computer Science Building.
ASU’s Global Immersion Center in the Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building will host a full-dome astronomy show, “Saturn: Jewel of the Heavens,” and the Society of Physics Students will present a physics show, also in the Vincent building.
Prior to the 6 p.m. football game, the ASU Alumni Association will host Ram Jam, a pre-game event with a tailgate party, live music, free food and other entertainment, at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave. Complimentary football game tickets for students’ immediate family members are available this week in the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), and will also be available on Saturday at the Ram Family Connection information table in the Houston Harte University Center.
A special feature added to this year’s Family Day activities will be a classic western music and comedy show by the English Brothers to kick off the weekend on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center. Tickets are $5 and are available in advance in the CSI, located in the University Center basement, or at the door Friday night subject to availability.
