Jackson Presents Paper at SCSC

Dr. Mark Jackson presented his paper “Cornaro, Duration, and George Herbert’s Hygiene of the Soul” as part of the panel “Health, Disability, and Healing in Early Modern England,” at the annual meeting of the Sixteenth Century Society & Conference, an interdisciplinary group of scholars researching the early modern period, broadly defined (ca. 1450 – ca. 1660).   While at the conference, he also had the opportunity to chair the panel “Ben Jonson, Art and Influence.”

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
