ASU Prof Honored by Education Professionals Group

The PDK Emerging Leaders program recognizes top educators under age 40 from around the world for their leadership and vision in the field of education. A review committee composed of past PDK Emerging Leaders selected this years 18 honorees based on their professional accomplishments.
An assistant professor and program advisor for ASU secondary teacher certification candidates, Williamson teaches and coordinates the courses that students are required to complete for certification. She holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Baylor University.
Additionally, Williamson helped establish and serves as advisor to the ASU student chapter of the Texas State Teachers Association. She also initiated the universitys Annual Education Symposium to provide students interested in education careers with a way to communicate directly with educators in the field about current issues.
Williamson and the other honorees will be recognized at the 2012 PDK International Conference, Feb. 1617, in Baltimore. They also have the opportunity to be published by PDK, apply for grants and participate in PDK initiatives.
