ASU Multicultural Center to Honor Veterans
November 05, 2012
The celebration will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday in the central spine of the University Center and is open free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Angelo State’s ROTC detachment will perform the posting of the colors; students from the Art and Music Department will sing the national anthem; an ROTC cadet will given the invocation; and Ram Band members will play TAPS. Opening remarks by ASU administrative staff will then be followed with presentations by Dr. Bill McKinney, a military veteran and associate professor of real estate, and ASU students.
There will also be a candle lighting ceremony in memory of fallen U.S. veterans, and a memorial wall area where ASU faculty, staff, students and alumni who are military veterans or dependants have been invited to provide pictures that will be displayed on an appreciation banner and at tables set up for the celebration.
Students will also be assembling gift bags for the NapSack Project that will be sent to U.S. soldiers serving overseas through the nonprofit Soldiers’ Angels organization.
