ASU Club Café to Feature Versatile Comedian

Dean Edwards, a stand-up comedian and actor, will appear in Angelo State University’s first Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series event of the fall semester on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Edwards will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center. ASU student tickets will be presold for $2 Wednesday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 23. Tickets will be available to the general public for $5 from Monday, Sept. 26, through Wednesday, Sept. 28. Any remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the door.

The first 100 audience members to arrive will receive a free Club Café coffee mug. Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and other light refreshments will be served.

Edwards has performed as a voice artist, including providing the voices of Scottie Pippin and Spike Lee in “Celebrity Deathmatch,” a robot in “Robotomy” and Donkey in “Scared Shrekless,” after Eddie Murphy declined to reprise the role. Edwards also appeared in the “Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Halftime Special” during the Super Bowl as Savion Glover and Don Cheadle, in “Tony ’N’ Tina’s Wedding” as Father Mark and in “The Sopranos.”
