Cunningham in Catholic Southwest

“Friar Simón del Hierro’s Diary of the Preliminary Colonization of Nuevo Santander, 1749:  An Annotated Translation,” an article by Dr. Deb Cunningham, assistant professor of Spanish, provides the first English-language translation of this primary source manuscript.  The article appears in Catholic Southwest:  A Journal of History and Culture.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
