Search Committee Named for ASU Finance VP

January 28, 2013

Angelo State University President Brian J. May has appointed a nine-member search committee to make recommendations for a new vice president for finance and administration to succeed Michael L. Reid, who has resigned, effective March 15.

The committee will be led by co-chairs Brian M. Braden, executive director of information technology, and Dr. David P. Dewar, vice president of the ASU Faculty Senate and associate professor of history.

Other members are James E. Adams, director of public safety and chief of University Police; Denise Brodnax, executive director and controller, ASU Controller’s Office; Dr. Karen Cody, associate professor of French and Spanish, Department of English and Modern Languages; Dr. Corbett F. Gaulden, dean, College of Business; Dr. Kimberly Livengood, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, Department of Curriculum and Instruction; Bradley Petty, executive director of student affairs; and Dr. Joseph C. Rallo, vice chancellor for academic affairs, Texas Tech University System.

Committee members will accept and review applications, then forward the names of finalists to May for consideration.  Reid announced his resignation earlier this month to accept a position as vice president for administration and finance at the University of Montana in Missoula.

ASU’s vice president for finance and administration is the chief financial officer of the university and reports to the president.  Responsibilities include overseeing financial operations, including budgeting and reporting, as well as facilities and human resource management.

The position is responsible for the Budget Office; Human Resources; Information Technology; Business Services; Controller’s Office; Facilities Management; Facilities Planning and Construction; Materials Management; Special Projects; University Police; Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management; OneCard; and Parking Services.

The search committee’s goal is to forward a list of finalists to the president by the end of the spring semester.
