ASU Students Picked for Project Spring Break
March 05, 2013
ASU students participating in CSI’s Project Spring Break March 11-17 are Megan Benjamin, Kara Edwards, Taeseong (Jack) Gwon, Misharee Hight, Jon Meadows and Karina Quintana. The program offers ASU students a service opportunity as a substitute for conventional spring break activities. They will be accompanied on the trip by Jennifer Johnson, ASU coordinator of Greek life and community service, and her graduate assistant, Taylor Ball.
The ASU volunteers will stay at the Lower Ninth Ward Village, a communal living facility built after Katrina to empower community members to be self-sufficient and to sustain an equitable quality of life. The village focuses on connecting the elderly and youth with various services, and providing care and guidance for the community as a whole. Each evening, the students will share and reflect on their experiences while enjoying the culture and cuisine of New Orleans.
CSI and the ASU Student Life Office fund the Project Spring Break trip, including registration costs, accommodations, transportation, meals and project T-shirts.
