April 04, 2013

The Mesquite Trio, made up of Angelo State University music faculty members, will present a concert on Thursday, April 11, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public.  Dr. Constance Kelley, assistant professor of music, Dr. Tim Bonenfant, associate professor of music, and Dr. Jeff Womack, associate professor of music, comprise The Mesquite Trio.

The evening’s musical program will include Jakub Kowalewski’s “Terzetto Canonico,” Willem Pijper’s “Trio for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon” and Ernest Toch’s “Sonatinetta, op. 84.”  Composer Gary Powell Nash’s “Papilionian Dance for Flute, Oboe and Clarinet” and “Soulful Trio No. 2 for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon” will also be performed.

The finale of the evening will be the four-movement “Petite Suite” by Claude Debussy in its debut arrangement by Bonenfant.

Kelley, Bonenfant and Womack are the woodwind faculty at ASU.  They formed The Mesquite Trio in 2007 to promote chamber music and support new compositions.
