After working with Paul Howard, a Small Business Development Center Advisor, Orlando was able to hit the ground running in his adventure to start his own health and fitness store…

Run 4 Lyfe

Owner/Managers: Orlando Nurse

Nature of Business: Health/ Fitness/ Running to Save Lives

City: San Angelo, TX

SBDC Business Advisor: Paul Howard

Run 4 Lyfer, Orlando has been extremely health conscious his entire adult life. While in the military he taught fellow airmen what he did to keep himself fit and how to eat healthy. After retiring from the Air Force, Orlando thought he could continue this by opening his own small business. Not sure where to begin, he contacted the Angelo State University • Small Business Development Center and met with Advisor Paul Howard. They discussed his business idea and Paul learned that Orlando already had some merchandise in stock.

Paul discussed business structure, marketing and record keeping with Orlando. Orlando also took it upon himself to attend several of the SBDC’s seminars where he gained even more knowledge. He set up a kiosk in the mall and started selling his products. Orlando says, “The SBDC has helped my business go and begin to grow. They took time out to help answer my questions one on one.”

Run 4 Lyfe is now selling products for those that want to keep healthy. Orlando even has a piece of equipment that determines the best workout shoe for any individual. The business created one job for the San Angelo economy.
