As a ten year old, Peggy knew Jennifer was talented, “Jennifer was always full of ideas, art projects and wanted to help everyone with which ever project they were doing! I remember her like it was just yesterday and she was a ten year old sitting in my classroom. Now she’s a business owner!”

Jennifer Swink Meagher and advisor Peggy Rosser have established a long-term relationship spanning over the past 20+ years. Peggy was Jennifer’s Fifth Grade Teacher! As a ten year old, Peggy knew Jennifer was talented, “Jennifer was always full of ideas, art projects and wanted to help everyone with which ever project they were doing! I remember her like it was just yesterday and she was a ten year old sitting in my classroom. Now she’s a business owner!”

Jennifer Swink Meagher’s introduction to a Shetland pony set her life off in a direction she would never have noticed. After the Shetland nudged Jennifer causing her to fall, Jennifer picked up her camera and snapped his picture. The photo, named “I see you,” has been the impetus behind Jennifer’s journey into photography, art and framing.

She originally rented space in a gallery in downtown San Angelo. She outgrew the space and moved into a shopping area near the heart of town. This expansion has enabled Jennifer to display many more artistic pieces, photos and delve further into framing. She contacted the SBDC for assistance.

“Running a small business is not for the faint of heart. It has taken every bit of my faith in God and those He has sent me as help, to get me to this point. Having Peggy involved in this expansion has been extremely beneficial to my business, “Jennifer said.

The current location has expanded to include custom flag frames and custom military framing. Additional lines of frames are available and large, over-sized framing is becoming a specialty of Swink’s Custom Framing. Jennifer appreciates the continued support from the SBDC, “(Peggy helps with) everything from marketing to long term planning (which) is essential for the working entrepreneur. Having someone with the experience and a creative business mind to run ideas and plans by is a big help in the progression of a working success.”

With her artistic eye and her ability to capture what the customer is looking for, Jennifer is creating a loyal following. She has become the “go to” business when the military at Goodfellow Air Force Base are seeking custom shadow boxes for their flags and medals.

Swink’s Custom Framing has retained one job and is contributing to the economy of San Angelo.
