Process documents received from the Government Printing Office, which includes checking in document shipments, stamping, applying labels and security strips, accurately tracking shipping lists, etc.  Withdraw older materials identified by Library staff.  Shelve items according to the classification system. Shift materials to new locations and perform shelf reading to make certain items are in the proper call number order. (approximately 60% of working hours) Assist patrons with basic research needs, providing information, reference and technology assistance that facilitates access to the Porter Henderson Library collection. (approximately 40% of working hours) Other duties as required. Experience with personal computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications is necessary. 

Should be available to work Fall and Spring, 2013-2014, as well as Summer Sessions 1 and 2 (allowance is made for study abroad and internships). This position requires strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-motivation, and reliability. Preference will be given to those who are familiar with ASU Library resources, print and electronic; however, those with varying levels of research expertise are encouraged to apply. Position requires full range of motion including but not limited to standing, sitting, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling book carts weighing up to 300 pounds, and lifting up to 30 pounds.


Position starts in mid- or late July or early August 2013

Works approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule, generally between 8 AM and 5 PM, M-F, but with some evening hours between 5-9 PM as negotiated on a semester by semester basis.


Undergraduate-$8.25  Graduate-$8.95
