Miles and Di Bie Head to NCHC New Orleans

The Department of English and Modern Languages is very happy to announce that two of its majors and ASU honors students will be attending the 2013 National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in New Orleans, November 6-10.

Holly Miles is seeking two undergraduate degrees at ASU: a BS in Sociology and a BA in Spanish with a minor in Technical and Business Writing.

Jennifer Di Bie is an English major seeking a Creative Writing concentration and a minor in Spanish.

Both students were also accepted to attend a National Collegiate Honors Council Masters Class on poetry they each submitted earlier this summer.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
