Seeking a part-time Ophthalmology Office Assistant for our growing practice. This individual must be organized, efficient, and have great customer service skills.Previous Ophthalmology experience is preferred.
Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries and medical consultations
• Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, take and record customer information, and escort patients when necessary
• Operate office equipment in order to prepare reports, medical records, patient charts, missing charge reports, letters, and diagnoses worksheets
• Interview patients to complete documents, and forms such as intake and insurance forms
• Compose and mail letters and appointment reminders to patients and call patients or reschedule patient visits
• Coordinate with outside organizations by verifying and coordinating appointments and providing the necessary paper work
• Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff
• Order, receive, and route labs and x-rays to appropriate staff
• Obtain and confirm preauthorization for insurance
• Check for correct information on surgery orders
• Order, log and assist in refilling medical prescriptions for patients
• Make supply order requests to the purchasing department and take inventory
• Maintain medical records, technical library, correspondence files, and inventory
• Receive requests for patient records
• Release records to the medical records department
• Research archived records when requested
• Update electronic records from physician hard copies when necessary
• Perform maintenance and filing of medical charts including purging of unnecessary or outdated materials
• Complete and maintain appropriate forms and documentation
• Maintain patient confidentiality 


Monday, Tuesday & Friday: 8-5 - 24hrs/wk
