ASU Planetarium Kicks Off Spring Shows

January 13, 2010

Angelo State University will debut the new astronomy show “Black Holes: Point of No Return” starting Thursday, Jan. 21, in the ASU Planetarium.

Show times will be at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 21 through March 11, with a special Saturday showing at 2 p.m. on Feb. 20. The Planetarium is located in the ASU Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building, 2333 Vanderventer St.

“Black Holes: Point of No Return” brings the current science of black holes to the dome Planetarium screen. This cutting-edge production features high-resolution visualizations of cosmic phenomena, working with data generated by computer simulations. Audiences will be dazzled by striking and immersive animations of the formation of the early universe, star birth and death, and the collision of giant galaxies, plus a simulated flight to a super-massive black hole lurking at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy.

“Black Holes: Point of No Return” is open to the public with admission prices of $3 for adults and $2 for children, students and senior citizens. ASU students, faculty and staff are admitted free.
