ASU Club Café to Feature Comics

September 24, 2013

Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series will host the “NBC: Stand Up for Diversity Tour,” featuring comedians Gina Brillon and Raneir Pollard, on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Brillon and Pollard will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center.  Admission prices will be $2 for ASU students and $5 for the general public at the door.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and light refreshments and drinks will be served.

Winner of the 2012 Stand-Up NBC national comedy talent contest, Brillon describes herself as a Bronx-born Latina whose humor is a mix of femininity and fearlessness.  A regular on the New York comedy scene, Brillon has performed at The Laugh Factory, the Gotham Comedy Club and The Comic Strip, among others.  She has had roles in several independent films and performed as the opening act for singers Neyo and Chrisette Michelle.  For more information and video clips, go to her website at www.ginabrillon.com/.

A 2011 Stand-Up NBC finalist, Pollard developed his sense of humor growing up in Miami as a gay youth in a traditional Baptist Caribbean family.  He has appeared on Showtime’s “Pride Comedy Jam” and had a role in the HBO film “Blues Man Blues.”  He has performed his stand-up routines at top comedy clubs, including The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store and The Improv.  For more information and video clips, go to his website at www.blackandgayallday.com/pollard/home.html.
