Dr. Terry Dalrymple. professor of English, and Dr. Mark Jackson, assistant professor of English, attended the annual conference for the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers (TACWT) this past weekend at TCU in Fort Worth. They both participated in the panel “The Care and Feeding of Literary Journals,” along with Philip Zwerling (UT-Pan American), editor of RiverSedge, and Ann McCutchan (UNT), editor of American Literary Review. Also at the conference, Dalrymple read a new story titled “Not Meanin’ to Kill Myself.”  Dalrymple is the Founder of the Concho River Review, and he has served as General Editor and Fiction Editor.  Jackson is the current Book Review Editor and Marketing Director of Concho River Review.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
