Angelo State University’s music program will host world-class trumpet sextet Tromba Mundi for a master class on Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The master class will run from 2-4 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public.  Participants are encouraged to bring their trumpets for a grand massed trumpet finale.

Tromba Mundi members are Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, Dr. Scott Belck, Dr. Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski, Dr. John Marchiando, Robert Skoniczin and Joey Tartell.  The sextet has performed with various ensembles around the U.S., including the Cincinnati Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, Glenn Miller Band and many others.  Several Tromba Mundi members have also produced critically acclaimed solo recordings.

The ASU master class is one of three appearances members of Tromba Mundi will make in San Angelo.  On Friday, Oct. 18, members Tartell and Belck will participate in a jazz concert at the Angelo Civic Theatre as part of the Cactus Music Series sponsored by the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council.  On Sunday, Oct. 20, Tromba Mundi will perform at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) as part of the museum’s Chamber Music Series.  For more information on the public performances, contact the Cultural Affairs Council at 325-635-6793 or SAMFA at 325-653-3333.
