ASU International Education Week

Angelo State University’s Center for International Studies (CIS), Multicultural Center, Center for Student Involvement, Freshman College and other partners are sponsoring a variety of activities to celebrate International Education Week Nov. 18-22 on the ASU campus.
Several of the week’s activities are open to the public, including a gallery of award-winning photos taken by students for ASU’s Study Abroad Photo Contest and art projects by students who participated in this year’s China study abroad program. The displays will be open free for public viewing in the Houston Harte University Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, a Cultural Celebration will run 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the University Center lobby. Activities will include booths for calligraphy, chop stick lessons and games, a photo booth, a Korean drum dance, a study abroad fair and more. ASU’s University Center Program Council will also host Desserts from Around the World from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All the activities are open free to the public.
Also on Tuesday, ASU’s English Language Learners’ Institute will host its Conversation Partners program from 6-7 p.m. in the Plaza Verde residence hall, 1941 S. Van Buren St. The public is invited to converse with ASU students learning English as a second language.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the ASU French Club will host a French breakfast from 7-9 a.m. in the Food Service Center, 2201 Vanderventer St. The breakfast is open to the public with a cost of $4.95 per person.
The ASU Honors Program will host an invitation-only luncheon on Thursday in the University Center, highlighted by presentations by honors students who participated in prestigious overseas study opportunities in Africa and England.
ASU students will also have the opportunity to sample international cuisine Tuesday-Thursday evenings in the Food Service Center.
Additional sponsors for the week of activities include the African Student Association, International Students Association and Korean Student Association.
