Spanish Linguistics Expert to Speak at ASU

October 14, 2010

Dr. Francisco Marcos-Marin, professor of Spanish linguistics at the University of Texas-San Antonio, will make a presentation about Charles IV, the last Spanish king to reign over Texas, on Thursday, Oct. 21, on the Angelo State University campus.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 004 of the ASU Academic Building, 2502 Dena Drive, and is open free to the public. Marcos-Marin’s visit is being sponsored by the ASU Modern Languages Department and Dr. Kevin Lambert, dean of the ASU College of Liberal and Fine Arts.

Author of more than 30 books and hundreds of papers and reviews, Marcos-Marin has studied, written and lectured about Charles IV, who abdicated his throne in 1808, before Mexico won its independence from Spain and when Texas was still part of Mexico.
