Dr. Timothy Bonenfant, clarinetist and associate professor of music at Angelo State University, will present a solo recital on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public.  Bonenfant will perform the musical selections he plans to later present during the Festival of Women Composers at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in February.  Composers featured in his program are Johann Beyer, Yvonne Desportes, Joan Tower, Libby Larsen, Lori Ardovino and Kaija Saariaho.

Additionally, Bonenfant will present the world premiere of “Eefer Madness,” a work for E-flat clarinet by Nolan Stolz, a Las Vegas composer who teaches at Southeast Missouri State University.

Director of ASU’s Single-Reed Studio and Jazz Ensemble, Bonenfant holds advanced music degrees from the California Institute for the Arts and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.  He has played with the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, the West Texas Jazz Orchestra, the Houston Clarinet Ensemble, the Mesquite Trio and the Tempest Trio.
