Edee recently moved to the San Angelo area after leaving West Virginia. She settled in Christoval to be closer to her family. Edee baked cakes out of her home to make extra money while in West Virginia.

She determined she wanted to open her own bakery and met with Adviser Paul Howard of the Angelo State University • Small Business Development Center. Paul discussed basic start-up issues with Edee, such as business structure, marketing and record keeping. Client took his advice and her savings and opened a bakery in Christoval. She says, “The SBDC helped figure out how to advertise my business. They also helped get me started
to knowing what I needed to do such as forms to fill out and where to get those forms and how to book-keep.”

Edee’s Custom Cakes is now baking its way into the Concho Valley by creating one job to help out the economy.
