Gabriel Fernandez and Derek McIntyre joined forces in 2012 to establish their company,
Angelo Solutions, LLC. Gabriel owned another company specializing in audio/video and
security solutions for residential and commercial customers. When the two created the new business, they sought to expand into the emerging market of Electronic On Board
Recording (EOBR) systems.

These systems are becoming required for businesses involved in trucking and transportation by insurance companies and regulatory agencies. Soon after moving into this industry, Angelo Solutions received a contract order to install EOBR units in 500 trucks. They have not slowed down since and have actually continued to expand their product offering.

With business growing so fast, Gabriel and Derek had to start thinking of locating office
space. They contacted the Concho Valley Center for Economic Development (CVCED) who put them in touch with the Angelo State University – Small Business Development Center (ASU-SBDC). They were assigned to work with Advisor James Leavelle. Working with James and the CVCED, Angelo Solutions was able to secure office space in The Business Factory, the business incubator of the CVCED.

Derek and Gabe say the ASU-SBDC’s assistance in helping them get into The Business
Factory has significantly contributed to being able to expand their product offerings,
manage their operation, and increase their sales. Their expanded product line now includes VSAT communications, education technology, electronic safety systems, and more.

Derek and Gabriel expanded their business, creating six jobs while retaining three.
