Opera Music Theatre Workshop Features ASU Students

November 08, 2010

Students representing Angelo State University’s music and drama programs will present the annual Opera Music Theatre Workshop program on Monday, Nov. 15, in the ASU Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public. It will feature selections from “Rent,” “Hello Dolly!,” “Spring Awakening,” “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” “The Frogs,” “Legally Blond the Musical,” “Avenue Q,” “The Phantom of the Opera” and others.

The Opera Music Theatre Workshop is taught by Dr. Christine Buckstead, assistant professor of music. It offers ASU music and drama students the opportunity to gain stage experience while working on scenes and musical numbers taken from opera, operetta and musicals. Students also increase their theatrical experience with singing, dancing, directing, choreography and character development.

For more information on the Opera Music Theatre Workshop, call the ASU Art and Music Department at 942-2085.
