ASU to Host Self-Defense Class

February 13, 2014

The Angelo State University Police Department is hosting a free Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Heroes Fitness Center (formerly Gold’s Gym), 4110 Sunset Drive.

The class will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to all women ages 12 and older.  However, participants younger than 18 need parental permission.

ASU police officer Mary Wilson will instruct the first part of the class.  Participants will break for lunch on their own and then return for hands-on training with a police officer in a padded suit.

“This is important, not only for peace of mind, but for self empowerment,” Wilson said.  “Participants will realize that they already have weapons at their disposal.”

To register, visit Heroes Fitness Center or call the University Police Department at 325-942-2288.  Participants should wear comfortable clothing.
