ASU Accounting Student Wins Statewide Scholarship

January 20, 2011

Cathryn Rittenberry, a senior accounting major at Angelo State University, has been awarded a $1,500 renewable scholarship by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) Accounting Education Foundation (AEF).

A native of Carthage, Rittenberry is one of only 50 AEF scholarship winners statewide. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding students planning to become CPAs in Texas.

Rittenberry carries a 4.0 grade point average in ASU’s B.B.A./M.P.Ac. program and is scheduled to graduate in May of 2012 with Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Professional Accountancy degrees. She is also being recommended by the ASU accounting faculty for the 2011 Outstanding Accounting Student Award presented each year by the San Angelo chapter of the TSCPA.

Also a member of the ASU Rambelles track and field team, Rittenberry is training for the heptathlon. This summer, she will study abroad in France, Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands through the ASU Center for International Studies.

Based in Dallas, the TSCPA is a nonprofit, voluntary, professional organization representing Texas CPAs with 20 local chapters statewide and 29,000 members. The society is committed to serving the public interest with programs that advance the highest standards of ethics and practice within the CPA profession.
