WTC Student Assistants Present Papers for the West Texas Historical Association

Graduate student, Zach Dowdle, and undergraduates, Joshua Logsdon and Ray Theiss, presented papers at the annual meeting of the West Texas Historical Association in Odessa, TX on April 4, 2014. All three are Student Assistants in the West Texas Collection and history majors.
Zach Dowdle presented the paper “In the Land of Sandstorms and Sand: Locating Texas Technological College in 1923” which was developed as fulfillment for an ASU Graduate Research Fellowship.
Ray Theiss presented the paper “Uncovering a Legend: The San Clemente Mission, 1684”.
Josh Logsdon presented the paper “Western Welfare: The Pauper System in West Texas, 1879-1930” which was developed through the ASU Undergraduate Research Fellowship.
Mr. Logsdon’s paper received the Best Student Essay Award from the Association.
