Ulibarri Nominated for Presidential Award

The Department of English and Modern Languages has nominated Phylicia Ulibarri, an English major with a history minor from Cleburne, Texas, for the 2014 Distinguished Student Presidential Award.  

Ms. Ulibarri has been recently admitted to The University of Edinburgh’s School of Literatures, Languages, and Cultures for its Master’s program “Literature and Society: Enlightenment, Romantic and Victorian.”  

She has also served as a peer tutor in the Writing Center and graduates this May.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
