Erickson and Garrison Finalists in ASU Faculty Excellence Awards

Dr. Joe Erickson, assistant professor of English and Director of the First-Year Writing Program, and Dr. Kevin Garrison, assistant professor of English and Coordinator of the Technical and Business Writing Program, were nominated for the 2014 Faculty Excellence Awards.  

Erickson was nominated for excellence in leadership/service, and Garrison was nominated for teaching excellence.  Both also received plaques and awards in the amount of $500 as finalists in these two categories.

These achievements were celebrated at the annual Faculty Excellence Awards banquet on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the C. J. Davidson Center.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
