ASU Marketing Staff Wins Multiple Addy Awards

The staff of Angelo State University’s Offices of Communications and Marketing and Information Technology picked up more than a dozen Addy Awards at the San Angelo Advertising Federation’s annual awards ceremony on Feb. 12.

The top ASU award was a Best of Show in the Interactive category for the university’s newly designed Office of Financial Aid web site home page.

ASU also won Gold Addy Awards for the Financial Aid home page, its university web site home page (www.angelo.edu) and the home page for its Residential Programs web site. Also winning gold were the 2009 Softball Media Guide cover, the “Uncle Ram” recruiting poster and the poster for the 2009 ASU Writer’s Conference in Honor of Elmer Kelton.

Silver Addy Awards went to the ASU Magazine, a Residential Programs post card, the West Texas Fellowship brochure and four photos by ASU photographer Danny Meyer.

Communications and Marketing staffers who contributed to the winning entries include Meyer, Bree Walker, Michael Martin, Tom Nurre, Roy Ivey, Jayna Phinney, Leonor Constancio and Preston Lewis.

Jon Wilcox and Carey Taylor of ASU’s Information Technology staff contributed to the winning web page designs.

Other ASU awards went to student photographer Kimberley Parker for several of her photos, including a Student Best of Show, and Ben Sum, assistant professor of art, who won a Best of Show in the Advertising for the Arts and Sciences category for his poster for the Art and Music Department.

All the entries from San Angelo’s various media and advertising agencies were judged by staff from the Balcom Agency in Fort Worth, Jamison Advertising Group in Fort Worth and Pollei Design Works in Waco.

All Gold and Silver Addy Award winners are automatically entered in the regional competition with the chance of advancing to the national contest.
