ASU Brass Quintet to Perform Recital
April 15, 2010
The recital, inside the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive, is open free to the public and will feature the Art and Music Department’s top brass players, all undergraduate students.
Works on the program will include transcriptions of music by Georg Frideric Handel, original works for brass quintet by Russian composer Victor Ewald and a recent piece, “Bothnian Rhapsody,” from Finnish composer Jukka Viitasaari.
Members of the quintet are Rosendo Ramos and Caleb Sandoval playing trumpet, Chloe Fann on horn, Jeremy Flint playing trombone and Matthew Fisher on tuba. The Brass Quintet is coached by Dr. John Irish, associate professor of music.
In addition to working on the repertoire for this recital, the ASU Brass Quintet recently toured local schools, experienced a recording session in a professional studio and played alongside the Gateway Brass Quintet, a part of the United States Air Force Band of the West during their recent concert at ASU.
