ASU Students, Profs Present Papers at State Convention

Graduate students Nora Klie, Whitney McMillen, Matt Smith, Jayna Phinney and Stephanie Cumberledge presented a total of eight peer-selected research papers on nonverbal communication and rhetorical analysis.
CMMT Department faculty Drs. Chris Collins, Jake Simmons, George Pacheco Jr. and June Smith also presented peer-selected papers on communication techniques to speech educators at the convention.
In addition, Dr. Shawn Wahl, CMMT Department head, was elected TSCA vice president, and Pacheco, an assistant professor of communication, was named TSCA Journal editor. Both Wahl and Pacheco will also serve as TSCA Executive Committee board members. Pacheco also received his award as the group’s University Educator of the Year.
The TSCA is the largest state professional communication association in the U.S. Membership is open to all communication educators, students and consultants, as well as individuals interested in the field of speech communication. The association provides updated professional awareness and networking opportunities, as well as exposure to innovations, teaching methodologies and scholarly works relevant to the discipline of speech communication.
